La Brenne Natural Park

Often described as the 'land of a thousand lakes' the park of La Brenne is one of France's greatest natural assets. A rich area of natural fauna and flora delicately preserved by its ‘National Park’ status. It is much loved by ramblers, birdwatchers and cyclists alike. Only just over half an hour from the house you will find yourself in a perfect 'away from it all' spot as its scale means that at times you can feel as if you are the only people in the park.

Whether you are walking by a lake or through the woodlands you will see nature at its best and sometimes most surprising.

At the heart of the park there is a good visitor centre  ‘Maison du Parc’ – at Le Bouchet where you can also visit the interesting castle with great views over the lakes.

Not all the visitors will be nature lovers so the park has provided alternatives such as lakes with swimming beaches at Bellebouche and Belabre.
