The construction of the church of
Saint-Martin in Chambourg-sur-Indre dates
from thr 11th or 12th century. It originally
composed of a nave to which was later added
two lateral chapels. There is a Romanesque
portal, which was retained during the
restoration of the building during the 19th
century.
The central window of the semi-circular asp
depicts
the popular scene of Saint-Martin-de-Tours
on horseback, dressed as a
Roman soldier cutting his cloak in half to
share with a beggar.
There is also a pretty circular window in
the church.
Where's Joan?, you find her here in her
traditional pose but on our visit with the
added adornment of a French football scarf -
perhaps a legacy of another recent
successful campaign
