The town of
Richelieu is an interesting place and as we have
found, there is more to it than the square and the park. There has been a
big commitment to tourism recently in the town, which has led to an
excellent exposition about the Cardinal and the town itself. We had heard of
a small chapel that was hidden behind one of the large town houses on Grande
Rue but on a earlier visit had failed to locate it. Now it's a little easier
as number 21 has a European Union Flag above it which draws the eye. As you
peer through the little doorway you are met by a pleasant surprise...

...this beautiful
little chapel. It sits in the grounds of what was a former orphanage and
this was the place of worship for the children and staff. Sadly I have not
been able to find out much about the orphanage itself.

Inside is very simple with seating for perhaps 40 people.
