Wow! What an amazing place! Thank you Jim & Pauline for this hidden, tranquil, piece of paradise.  It has afforded us a much needed break from the perilous rat-race and given us sanctuary in a beautiful part of the world.Thank you Jim for the very helpful and useful emails of places to see an the 'must sees' of the area. Your suggestions ensured our good holiday became a great one. We are going to miss Le Bourg's magnificent garden and the melodious sounds of nature around us. We have loved each and every minute int this beahtiful & enthralling part of the world.

Thanks to Jim & Pauline for such a wonderful vacation. We had a very relaxing time thanks to the comfortable home here. Top tip for wine lovers is Chinon (which happens to be my favourite wine). We visited the caves had a free tour and tasting and bought two excellent bottles that would be five times the price in the US. Our son loved the De Vinci museum (Amboise) and Zoe loved the stunning Chenonceau. Thanks Jim & Pauline et merci au Val de Loire!

Amazing holiday! Jim & Pauline, lovely couple so willing to assist with anything and 'Le Bourg' was beautifully prepared for our arrival, even including fresh flowers. The house was stunning, the area is so peaceful, gave us the 'break from life' that we needed. Chenonceau, Loches on market day (Wednesday) Angles-sur-l'Anglin - all beautiful. Very chilled out holiday, Would love to come back.

Our first visit to the Loire Valley and to Barrou. When we arrived on the afternoon of the 24th in Barrou we saw this strange man motioning us to pull in and park. The strange man turned out to be Jim - what a delightful fellow. His wife Pauline joined us later to share a bottle of wine. Every day of our visit Jim would send me a few suggestions for the day. He was very much in tune with what we wanted to do I thought maybe he could read our minds! Le Bourh is a wonderful place to stay and relax. The entire place has everything you could possibly want. The patio overlooking the river is divine and a great place to enjoy a bottle of wine. Thanks for a great time!

We had a very happy week here. Thanks Jim and Pauline for having the place ready and comfortable for us and for all the suggestions of places to see. We liked everything but especially Musee de la Prehistoire (Le Grand-Pressigny) and Angles sur l'Anglin.

Thank  you for a lovely stay at Le Bourg. We have had a great time eating and drinking on the terrace in glorious sunshine, visiting chateaux and just relaxing with friends. We even managed a swim in the river. Loved Azay-le-Ferron, La Guerche and Chenonceau.

Our first visit to the Loire and we are now sure the first of many! We are so pleased to have chosen Le Bourg in Barrou – a wonderful and well-appointed property in the heart of gorgeous countryside. We feel we couldn’t have chosen a better place in the Loire to base ourselves. It’s a little further away from Tours and the Loire itself than we initially planned but this wasn’t a problem: the southern Loire area around Barrou is so scenic but also very accessible to e.g. Tours, Saumur, Richelieu and Chenonceau, all within an hour. The area further to the south, a little outside of the geographic Loire, including the striking Anglesl’Anglin is also very picturesque.

Pretty villages, amazing architecture, rolling wooded landscapes, and the river beach at Lesigny, less than a mile away… Markets at Loches and Descartes, the swimming pool at Descartes and Futuroscopeat Poitiers; the chateaux towns to the north including Tours with its cathedral and old town: something for everyone.

Jim and Pauline are great hosts, eager to make the holiday a success and on hand with local and regional information and help in booking restaurants etc. Le Promenade in Le Petit Pressigny was a special choice for dinner one evening without the kids! There is so much to see, enjoy and do in this very attractive area in the summer months and you won’t get it all done on the first visit.

A rather special holiday.

Spot-on, great location, lovely house. Jim ,& Pauline are very helpful and looked after us brilliantly. The pizza place across the road should have a Michelin star, if only for its 'Quatre Fromages'.  We have paid more for much less! ( Checked with guest, confirmed he meant the house not the pizza!!)

Thank you so much Jim & Pauline for all your fantastic first-hand knowledge and advice - we've had a great week here in Barrou. 'Le Bourg' is a lovely place to stay and so well kitted out compared to the usual holiday accommodation and it makes the world of difference. It is almost impossible to pick out our favourites (visits) but Villandry and gardens was amazing and the International Garden Festival at Chaumont was something else - and endless, well worth the money. There are too many things to mention and too many things we didn't fit in. So hopefully we will be back soon to do the rest,

Jim & Pauline are amazing hosts in all ways...meeting us like family on arrival, orienting us to this wonderful house and answering all our questions. When Jim popped in for an after storm clean up he discovered us on the 12ft table with maps & brochures everywhere and quickly set us right with helpful tips an insider info. Our short week has been jammed with new adventures, unexpected discoveries all with the careful guidance of Jim & Pauline. Everything from grocery staples, veggies from their garden plus fresh flowers all made us feel welcomed and ready to experience this beautiful region'

Thank you!!!

Our third year visiting the Loire Valley. First time at 'Le Bourg' and the house and annexe are beautiful. Lovely nights spent outside BBQs and sampling the many wines of the region. The girls spent lovely days swimming in the river at Lesigny. Days out spent at Angles-sur-l'Anglin, La Roche Posay and the stunning Chateau de Chenonceau. Barrou is a friendly village with most amenities you require as well as Landlord Willy at the local bar!!

Finally to Jim & Pauline - thank you! As usual everything was perfect and you are wonderful hosts.

Until next time...

A big thank you to Jim & Pauline for a wonderfully warm welcome and good sense of fun. Special mention needed to Pauline for helping us so much in getting our car fixed at the local garage - I highly recommend 'Garage Bastard' who showed great care & friendliness which we now realise is typical of the area/town. Lovely time spent at Barrou - far too short! The set menu lunch at Marie is a 'belt-buster we'll have to repeat!!

Well our stay here has sadly come to an end. Thank you to Pauline & Jim for your wonderful hosting,we were treated like family as nothing was to much trouble for them. The house is beautiful, spacious and comfortable with everything we could possibly need. We tried most of the restaurants Pauline and Jim

recommended and enjoyed every one. Willy and Sandra at the local hostelry were hilarious and made us all very welcome as did the locals. We really hope to return and hope the weather is kinder to us, never the less it did not detract from a lovely holiday. Thank you once again Pauline and Jim you have been invaluable.

Very kind regards from all of us xxx

We have had a wonderful time here. Jim & Paulineyou couldn't be nicer or more helpful. You have made us feel so comfortable, almost like home for us. 'Le Bourg' has everything we would want in a rental - complete kitchen, satellite TV, DVDs CDs, Fireplace, close to many of the area's attractions. We couldn't have enjoyed our time here more.
