Canoeing
and Kayaking in the Loire Valley
There are many opportunities for canoe/kayak
hire within the Loire Valley with the Loire river
and its tributaries offering the opportunity to test
you at every level. Add to this the more calm
environment of its many leisure lakes and you have
the ideal location for this popular activity. You
will discover the natural, historical and
architectural heritage of the region while
descending its many delightful rivers such as the
Loire itself, the Indre, the Cher, the Creuse, the
Eure, the Loir and the Vienne. |

Various places hire them out, such as the Canoe-Kayak Club
d'Amboise (00 33 247 23 26 52) and the Val d'Indre Canoe-Kayak
(00 33 247 73 13 19)
and Canoe Kayak Club Descartes (00
33 247 59 81 65 ). You
go with or without a guide, for an hour, a half-day or a full
day. No previous experience of canoeing is needed and it is a
wonderful way to see a stretch of the rivers, as well as being
fun -- but remember to give the rivers the respect they deserve
and be aware of safety implications.
