The weekly Sunday morning market in
Descartes is very popular with
Southern Touraine locals and
visitors alike. Whether it is to
stock up on fresh fruit or
vegetables or just to enjoy the
colourful atmosphere and browse the
many stalls on offer.
There are
two options to purchase flowers and
plants...
...plus you can buy the
locally made, famous goats cheese, Sainte-Maure-de-Touraine
from the cheese stall. After
visiting the morning market you can sit in
one of the friendly cafes on the square
before taking a stroll through the town's
lovely gardens.
**The town holds an evening market on the
riverside at
the Quai Couratin on
the first Friday in August every year which
normally includes live music.
